Review highlights
Based on 412 reviewsJPM Canteen & Dairy Bar is widely praised for its generous portion sizes, with many reviewers noting that even the smallest servings are more than enough to satisfy a sweet craving. The establishment offers a diverse and appealing selection of ice cream flavors, including unique regional specialties. Customers appreciate the excellent value for money, emphasizing affordability without compromising on taste or quality. The service is generally described as friendly and accommodating, allowing for customization such as mixed flavors in smaller portions. While the atmosphere reflects a bustling, popular roadside spot with a casual takeout setup, some feedback points to challenges in managing long lines and limited parking, which can affect the overall experience. Despite these operational hiccups, the strong combination of quality, quantity, and price makes JPM Canteen & Dairy Bar a favored destination for ice cream lovers in the area.
Insanely big portions, a large is like 8 scoops. Very tasty and good choice of flavours. Can’t beat the price!
Great selection of ice creams. We had a baby ice cream cup, man it must of been about 6 scoops and that's baby. They have small medium and large. If baby is about 6 scoops one can image how many a large would be.
Wowowowow! Ice cream in terms of bang for your buck is absolutely perfect. I love how they would let me do a small scoop but do a half and half. I tried the moon mist since its only available on the east coast. Its nice, sort of tastes like bubble gum mixed with cotton candy but it is its own thing if I'm honest. I'm more of a sweet tooth so I really enjoyed the peanut butter fudge crunch, as it came with the brownie chunks which I love. The scoops are plentiful and they got a gazebo with picnic benches to eat outside. They also take visa and mastercard so don't worry about cash. They also do other stuff like burgers, hot dogs, slushies etc. But I only came for the ice cream since thats what they're known for. Just note I didn't see any visible washrooms on site, but there is a gas station up the road or killarney lake which does have public washrooms. I know this is quite a trip but if you add a stop to killarney lake you could make a good day out of it!
The ice cream shop was extremely busy, with the line stretching all the way to the road. The portions are enormous and very affordable—I ordered a small cup, and it took me three days to finish it! I had to freeze it and return to it several times. However, the experience was a bit chaotic due to the lack of signage for managing the line and parking. Many customers were unaware of their surroundings, and when they reached the front of the line, they often stood directly in front of the sign listing the ice cream flavors, blocking it from view.
It might be a small take-out stop by the side of the road, but you won't find a better place to get some ice-cream (cone, cup, or sundae). Excellent portions at a reasonable price and great selection of flavors. Of course, they have food items too. Friendly service.
A hidden gem worth making the trek for! I just had my first double cheeseburger and it was amazing, the fries were homemade and crispy - couldn’t ask for better.
We didn't know they close at 9:00pm we got there at 859/900 they were cleaning up and count items.. but still opened window asked what we wanted, we said Ice-cream, they still served us. Inwitch was awesome to begin with but check out the photo to see the results.
Amazing hard scooped ice cream, loads of flavours, very generous portions. I got a large, and it made people stop and stare, as it was handed to me. Yes, I finished it all in a single sitting!
